Privacy Policy
Effective 1 November 2026. The app shows the same policy under Settings, About, Privacy.
Summary
Interleaf doesn't collect your notes, your study history or anything that identifies you. There are no accounts, usage analytics, ads or tracking, and the app contains no third-party code that sends data anywhere. Unless you turn off Share crash reports, the app sends anonymous crash and performance reports to its developer.
Your notes and study history
Decks, notes, images and review history are stored on your device. With iCloud sync on, which is the default, they are also stored in your private iCloud database so your other devices can use them. Apple keeps that data in your iCloud account; the developer of Interleaf can't see or access it. The start-of-day setting syncs the same way, through iCloud key-value storage. Turn sync off in Settings to keep new changes on that device only.
Reminders
Daily reminders are notifications scheduled on your device. Nothing about them is sent to a server.
Crash and performance reports
Share crash reports in Settings is on unless you turn it off. While it's on, Interleaf sends the reports iOS creates when the app crashes or stops responding, and a daily summary of how often the app quit and why, how long it took to start and how long it stopped responding. A report contains the app version and build, the system version, whether the device is an iPhone, iPad or Mac, a random number that keeps the same report from being counted twice, and for a crash or hang the locations in the app's code that were running. It never contains your notes, cards, decks, study history, device name or any identifier for you or your device, and it isn't linked to you. Reports are sent over an encrypted connection to a service the developer runs on Cloudflare. Full reports are deleted after 90 days and daily summaries after about three months; a list of crash types, each an error name and a code location, may be kept longer. Cloudflare receives your IP address with the connection, like any internet request; the service uses it only to limit abuse and doesn't store it. Cloudflare's own handling is described in its privacy policy. Turn the setting off to stop sending; reports not yet sent are deleted.
Export and import
Export creates a file and you choose where it goes. Import reads only a file you pick.
Deleting your data
Deleting a deck or note removes it from your device and, with sync on, from iCloud. Deleting the app removes its data from that device; data in iCloud can be removed in your iCloud storage settings.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here and on the policy's web page.
